You may need to upgrade your inverter, if you wanted to utilise, or have more solar on your site. So a lot of homes mainly have one and a half or two kilowatts of solar, but they want a battery. So, if you wanted to utilise that battery, you're going to need more solar on your roof, to be able to charge that battery up. So there's a few different options. It may be, your inverter's getting a bit old as well and it may be at the end of it's life, or getting close to it. That's where you may want to upgrade your inverter, and that's where you can connect a battery to it. So I would recommend if you're looking at getting a solar system now, look into getting a battery at the same time. So you may not be doubling up on the amount of inverters that you're investing in, but you can get a hybrid system, that can charge the batteries, but also have the solar panels directly connected to that.

If batteries aren't right for you right now, they maybe in the future. So look at just potentially getting a hybrid inverter with your solar array, and then you can add a battery later on. It's generally not plug and play. There needs to be an assessment by, you know, a qualified installer, who can look at your bills, find out how much you're exporting and importing, whether the battery's worthwhile for you, or if maybe you need more solar generation. But in many cases, it does make sense to do it. Then you also have the added benefit of having backup power as well.
