- The design aesthetic here at Dowie Doole is very, very important to us, so choosing products that really were complementary to the building was very important. So things like the air conditioner, that you can't see a lot of, and the beautiful panels that stand out on arrival was key parts of the design element. The panels look absolutely amazing, and part of the design here at the Cellar Door is also, we wanted the journey to start from when you enter the property. So when you come off California Road, one of the first things you see is the top of the Cellar Door as you come over the hill and you see all of the solar panels. And that was important, because we wanted people to get that sustainability feel as they're entering the property.
- Dowie Doole are committing to going organic and sustainable, so they're building the Cellar Door with energy efficient solar and air conditioning in mind to try and reduce their energy costs. A new inverter air conditioner will reduce your energy costs about 30% from an existing, non-inverter, 10-year-old air conditioner. So it's about 30% less running costs.
- A key part of the Cellar Door design, right from the start, was trying to be energy neutral or even putting back in, fitting back into the grid. So, we're trying to have zero impact in terms of our consumption. So we've designed the building all around the most effective angles for the solar, right from the initial design that the architect did.
- They work together. So the better the ER ratio or the star ratings on the units, the less power they're going to use. So using a high quality, high efficiency air conditioner is going to help reduce their energy costs. We've got a 9.5 kW, ducted, mid static LG air conditioner, LG Split System in the back office. The panels on the roof are 39 LG neon tube panels, installed on a custom made roofing to optimize the angle, 30 degrees, north-facing, to give them the most power production possible.
- Look, LG, to be honest, it's all throughout my house. I've got an LG fridge. I've got LG TVs, etc. I've actually got LG solar panels on my own home as well. Yeah, I know a lot about the brand. Really good quality. Love the products. So yeah, fantastic. We're actually, at the moment, going through a carbon audit process with a carbon accountant, so we're trying to make sure that Dowie Doole is carbon neutral across the entire business, but we also wanted to make sure that the Cellar Door had zero inputs. So we're trying to use energy efficient products, and high solar output was really important to making sure that the Cellar Door is essentially carbon neutral.
How are Dowie Doole in Adelaide optimising together their solar power & air conditioning?
