The old Beechworth gaol has great significance in history for Australia. It's very well known for housing Ned Kelly when he was caught at Glenrowan. And we have been installing a 30 kilowatt system here on the roof, and that is about merging history with new technology. The Beechworth gaol is incredibly significant to the local area here and across the country really because of its bushranger heritage, and tie in with Ned Kelly and the Kelly gang. And it's also been one of the big employers locally in Beechworth across the years as well. It's a significant building in the country. So it's really a central pivotal point and a recognised point for the community, and they all feel ownership of it or connection to it.
The community are very very active in this area about renewables as well, so it's been really good to see a building of such significance, wanting to include renewables into their landscape effectively. So this is a real mould of the old meets the new, and it's how we can tie in with their heritage and bring new technology in and, you know, power themselves effectively and then help power the greater community as well. This actually forms part of totally renewable Beechworth's 100% renewable energy goals. So, they have a plan on how they can reach a 100% renewable, and this plays a big part of that. And being able to generate more energy locally and seeing greater uptake and including businesses into that is really quite exciting. Everybody's really excited for this installation in Beechworth because it's that bringing together of the history and the future, and it can be done, and this is how we can do it. So this will showcase exactly that.
How is the solar installation at the Beechworth Gaol helping to power the local community?
