Today, we're installing the solar system up in Teringie. Rocco came to us a couple of years ago, he gave us a budget to work with, and he was a bit of a solar sceptic. So we designed up I think back then it was about a 13 kilowatt system to offset his quite large electricity bills. It was a bit of a stage one, stage two type approach. He was so happy with the results of our stage one, that then he contacted us again now a year and a half later. And he's worked out that he can actually save himself quite a considerable amount of money by going solar and not only saving money, but helping the environment.
So Rocco approached me again early this year and he asked us to come up with another solar system, basically to cover the remainder of his usage there, that he wasn't able to cover with the existing system. He gave us a budget to start off with, to do the best we could with that. And we got to almost 50% of his usage. And now today we're installing the system to cover the remainder of his bills. Rocco has quite a high usage on his property. He uses a lot of power with irrigation that he pumps from a borehole into a storage tank. And then he also uses irrigation pumps then to irrigate his olive groves and the gardens of the property. So from initial design of the system, we came up with a 13 kilowatt to start off with stage one. Yes following on from stage one, Rocco wants to maximise the amount that we can get on the property now, because there are some limits as to how big we can go in terms of sizing.
He thought it was very important now to get the most efficient panel we could because we are maximising right up there on the 30 kilowatts now installed on this property. And we're looking at pretty much now zeroing out his electricity costs there on the property based on the existing system, plus the extra 18 kilowatts that we've put on. So we've worked the payback out on that one there, just over three and a half years to get to full return on investment then. I think we really proved to him with stage one, how much of an impact solar can make on his energy usage and he is a very much a believer now these days.
What was the return on investment for Rocco's high quality solar power system in Adelaide?
